Chayah has a wide range of counselling services to meet your needs. With a strong emphasis on journeying, Chayah can help you with a wide range of issues including; grief and loss, addiction, couples therapy, identity and self esteem.

While we specialize in men’s issues we also cater to women’s needs. Counselling is often seen as intrusive and really only necessary for people with ‘problems’. This view is changing and society is beginning to see the benefit of invaluable service.
Spiritual direction is the contemplative practice of helping another person or group to awaken to the mystery called God in all of life, and to respond to that discovery in a growing relationship of freedom and commitment.
(James Keegan, SJ, Roman Catholic, USA, on behalf of the 2005 Coordinating Council of Spiritual Directors International)

Spiritual Direction is an ancient art that has been handed down for many hundreds of years. This service is a contemplative way in which the seeker endeavors to find the God answers for the issues of his/her life.

It is important to understand that this is not counselling. It is not an attempt to change behavior or improve the directee’s quality of life. It is a quiet safe place where the seeker can attempt to seek God within the presence and confidentiality of another human. It is also important to understand that Spiritual Direction is a specialty within itself and the staff at Chayah do not have formal qualifications in this specialty and as such can only provide a service within the boundaries of their experience in this field.

Having said this we at Chayah believe this is a valuable service which needs to be promoted within the community. For this reason Chayah encourage all peoples to further explore their relationship with God and how it impacts their life.

In the near future Chayah will run seminars and intensives on skills that effect the lay counsellor. These courses are intended for people who work in the people helping industry and want to improve their skills and ability to help people within their care.
